We started our second day very early in the morning from our hotel in Ujjain. The first place on our list was Kal Bhairav Temple 🛕. It is believed that Mahakal darshan is incomplete without visiting Kal Bhairav, who is considered the guardian deity (Kotwal) of Ujjain.

Kal Bhairav Temple Experience

One of the most unique things about this temple is that the devotees offer liquor 🍶 to Kal Bhairav, which is quite rare and interesting. The priest pours the liquor into a plate near the idol, and it is believed that the deity accepts it. This ritual has been followed for years, and many devotees believe it removes negativity and protects them from evil energies ✨.

The temple opens at 6:00 AM, but since it gets crowded quickly, we reached by 5:30 AM and stood in the queue. Luckily, we were just a few steps away from the entrance. As soon as the temple opened, everything moved very smoothly. Within 5 minutes, we had a peaceful darshan 🙏—no rush, no pushing, just a calm divine start of the day.

Mangalnath Temple Visit

Then we headed towards Mangalnath Temple 🛕, which is just a few kilometers away from Kal Bhairav Temple.

This temple holds great significance as it is believed to be the birthplace of planet Mangal (Mars) 🔴 according to Hindu astrology. It is also considered the only dedicated Mangal temple in India, making it very unique. Many devotees come here for Mangal dosha pujas and remedies related to planetary effects.

The temple is located on the banks of the Shipra River 🌊, and the surroundings are very calm and peaceful, which adds to the spiritual experience.

When we visited, the temple was not crowded at all. We were able to have a very peaceful darshan 🙏 and even got the opportunity for sparsha darshan, which made the experience even more special.

Journey to Omkareshwar 🚗

After completing these temples in Ujjain, we returned to our hotel, checked out, and started our journey towards Omkareshwar and Mamaleshwar temple 🛕, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

We left early around 7:00 AM. The journey takes around 4 hours due to road conditions between Indore and Omkareshwar. We took a short break in between for breakfast ☕🍴.

On the way, we booked VIP darshan through the official website for the 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM slot. It cost around ₹300 per person and was definitely worth it 👍.

Omkareshwar Darshan 🙏

We reached around 11:30 AM and checked into Hotel Manyavar 🏨, which is located close to the temple and also has a restaurant. We had lunch 🍛, freshened up, and then headed towards the temple around 1:30 PM.

At the temple office, we showed our booking and received a band 🎗️ to tie around our wrist, which is mandatory for VIP entry.

The normal queue was very crowded, but the VIP pass helped us a lot. Within 10 minutes, we were inside the main sanctum 🙏. The sanctum is small, so you cannot stay long like in other temples. You need to move quickly and have darshan of Omkareshwar.

Importance of Omkareshwar 🛕

Omkareshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and holds deep spiritual importance. The temple is located on an island shaped like the sacred “Om” in the Narmada River 🌊, which gives it its name.

According to legend, King Mandhata performed penance here, and Lord Shiva appeared as a Jyotirlinga. This place is also associated with Adi Shankaracharya, who is believed to have met his guru here ✨.

Mamleshwar Temple Visit 🛕

After Omkareshwar darshan, we visited Mamleshwar Temple.

Importance of Mamleshwar

It is believed that the Jyotirlinga is divided into two parts—Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar. So, darshan of both is necessary to complete the pilgrimage. Mamleshwar is also considered more ancient and holds equal importance.

Here there is no VIP pass, so we stood in the queue for around 20–30 minutes. The best part is there is no rush or pushing inside 🙏. Once you reach near the Shivling, you can stand peacefully and have darshan calmly.

Evening at Narmada River 🌊

We returned to the hotel around 3:30 PM, took some rest, and later went for a boat ride on the Narmada River 🚤.

During the boat ride, we saw:

  • Kaveri–Narmada Sangam 🌊
  • Omkareshwar Temple view 🛕
  • Mamleshwar Temple view
  • Statue of Oneness (Adiguru Sri Shankaracharya) 🧘‍♂️

After the boat ride, we attended the Narmada Aarti 🔥. A young girl performed the aarti, and it was truly mesmerizing. The sound of bells 🔔, river breeze 🌊, and spiritual atmosphere made it unforgettable.

We then explored the local market 🛍️ and returned to the hotel for dinner and rest.

End of Day 2 🌙

With this, our Day 2 came to an end. We completed darshan of the 5th Jyotirlinga 🙏. It was a day filled with devotion, peace and unforgettable spiritual experiences ✨.

Day 3 – Omkareshwar to Indore & Departure ✈️

We left Omkareshwar early at 6:15 AM 🌅 as our flight was scheduled at 2:40 PM. We first headed to Indore for breakfast.

Breakfast at Chappan Dukan (56 street food restaurants and shops) 🍽️

We visited Chappan Dukan in Indore. Since it was early morning, few shops were open, but we managed to try Poha, Jalebi, and Dabeli 🥘🍬. The taste was amazing and truly local.

Rajwada Palace Visit 🏰

We then visited Rajwada Palace. We explored the surroundings and took photos from outside 📸. The place has a royal and historical charm.

Temples in Indore 🙏

  • Lakshmi Temple
  • Gopal Mandir
  • Datta Mandir
  • Krishna Pura Chhatri

All these places were peaceful and quick to visit, giving us a nice spiritual closure to the trip.

Departure

After sightseeing, we headed towards Indore Airport. This marked the end of our journey covering Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Indore 🚩.

If you have more time, you can also explore Kanch Mandir, Rajwada Laser Show, Ganapati Temple, and Hanuman Temple in Indore.

End of Journey 🌸

With this, our beautiful spiritual journey came to an end. It was a trip filled with devotion, peace and unforgettable memories 🙏✨.
