🌅 Our Kashi Yatra – Day 2
Kala Bhairav | Ancestor Rituals | Ganga Boat Ride | Vishwanath Darshan | Sarees & Street Food | Sankat Mochan
🙏 Morning Blessings – Kala Bhairav Temple
Our second day in Kashi began early with a visit to the powerful Kala Bhairav Temple, the Kotwal (guardian) of Kashi. With his intense gaze and aura, the energy here was protective and grounding — a strong spiritual start to the day.
🌊 Rituals by the Ganga – Honoring Ancestors
Next, we proceeded to the ghats of the Ganga for Tarpanam and Pind Daan — sacred rituals for our ancestors. With the river flowing gently beside us, the atmosphere was serene. Offering prayers here felt like connecting with generations past. Truly a soul-stirring moment.
🛶 Boat Ride – Gliding Through Time Along the Ghats
We then took a beautiful boat ride on the Ganga, drifting past Kashi’s famous ghats. Each ghat has its own identity and story:
- Assi Ghat – Peaceful and spiritual 🌿
- Dashashwamedh Ghat – Vibrant and majestic 🔥
- Manikarnika Ghat – The eternal cremation ground 🔱
- Harishchandra Ghat – Sacred with deep mythological roots 🕯️
- Panchganga Ghat – Where five holy rivers meet 💧
🛕 Divine Darshan – Vishwanatha, Vishalakshi & Annapurna
We entered the Kashi Vishwanath Temple via the new corridor — clean, spacious, and grand. First, we had darshan of Maa Vishalakshi (Shakti Peeth), followed by the sacred Jyotirlinga of Shri Vishwanath. To our joy, it was not crowded, and we had a calm, uninterrupted darshan.
We also visited the Annapurna Devi Temple, where we prayed to the goddess of food and nourishment. It is said that no one goes hungry in Kashi under her grace.
🍛 Midday Rest
After the spiritual morning, we returned to the hotel for a hearty lunch and a few hours of rest.
🥤 Evening Treats – Lassi, Chaats & Street Vibes
Evening began with a glass of thick Banarasi lassi topped with malai — delicious and refreshing! Then came chaats: crispy aloo tikkis, tangy golgappas, and spicy chana chaat. Banaras knows how to treat your taste buds!
👗 Banarasi Saree Shopping – Heritage in Weave
We visited a Banarasi saree and salwar suit factory outlet. The sarees were stunning — rich zari, elegant designs, and soft silks. We couldn’t resist picking up a few as keepsakes.
🕉️ Ending the Day at Sankat Mochan
Our day concluded at the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple. As we entered, devotees were singing the Hanuman Chalisa in one voice. The vibrations and devotion in that space were overwhelming. We joined in, feeling incredibly blessed and protected.
✨ Reflections from Day 2
From the fierce protection of Kala Bhairav to the peaceful boat ride, the divine darshans, delicious food, and collective devotion at Sankat Mochan — this day in Kashi was truly unforgettable.
